Forward Deployed Engineer

Full-Time, Munich

TYTAN is a young deep-tech defense startup that develops a cost-effective counter-drone solution to protect people and critical infrastructure. We are an international team of ambitious engineers who combine expertise in autonomous systems and UAV design.

Defense technology has changed forever, the innovation cycles happen in weeks instead of years. We are looking for a new team member who is eager to make a real difference! As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will be working closely with our mission partners to deliver our defense capabilities and push the boundaries of dynamic product development.

Your roadmap to make an impact:

Serve as the first point of contact with mission partners, playing a pivotal role in shaping both product evolution and business growth. Your insights and actions will directly influence the product’s success and the strength of our partnerships.
Take ownership of high-stakes projects, managing them end-to-end while gaining invaluable experience and contributing to addressing some of the world’s most critical challenges.
Work directly with partners to plan and execute operations, understand their problems and implement solutions.
Develop a solid understanding of our products, identify areas for innovation through user feedback, and effectively communicate insights to the business and development team.
Engage with fellow engineers to explore and refine new concepts, participate in military exercises, enhance our autonomy stack, and deploy cutting-edge autonomous systems on-site.
Collaborate across teams, including hardware, software, and flight testing, to ensure seamless integration and successful deployments.
Take responsibility for product demonstrations and operator training.

Who you are:

Degree in Robotics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, and 2+ years of relevant work experience.
You have the skills to make things fly; experience in autonomous aerial systems, including their structure, software, and electronics, is a strong advantage.
You are passionate about flying FPV drones and hands-on work with a "get it done" attitude.
Eagerness to fix things in an elegant yet pragmatic way, finding solutions that work in the moment without losing sight of long-term goals.
Able to collaborate in teams of technical and non-technical individuals, and comfortable working in a constantly evolving environment with dynamic objectives and iteration with users.
Confident in pushing code in challenging environments—even from a tank, if needed.
Possess exceptional problem-solving skills and excel under pressure.
Willingness and interest in traveling to partners’ sites as needed. Ability to travel 25-50% preferred.
Hands-on mentality with solid multitasking and self-organization abilities.
Excellent communication and coordination skills.
Fluent in both German and English.
Military experience is a strong plus.
